Ndifreke Sylvanus Okon, born in Houston TX, is an African American software developer, project management professional, cyber security specialist, web development specialist, and active member in the community. With roots that trace back to Akwa Ibom State Nigeria, Ndifreke Okon has made it an objective to diversify technology and advocate for reliable and sustainable education programs preparing underserved and underrepresented students with the skills necessary to be successful in STEM careers. After graduating from Alief Elsik Highschool, Ndifreke Okon went on to pursue a college degree in Software Development. Ndifreke Okon applied, and was granted admission to Western Governors University where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Software Development. He graduated from Western Governors University with well over a 3.0 GPA and developed numerous projects learning and utilizing several different programming languages. During this time, he also served as an active member in his community volunteering to help provide solutions during the initial COVID-19 quarantine and pandemic.
Additionally, Ndifreke Okon has led the charge in raising awareness for people who suffer from autoimmune deficiency diseases as well as breast cancer survivors. Ndifreke Okon, has partnered with several nonprofit organizations such as Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Also, his professional history as a technology specialist working on the front lines of small, intermediate, and large software implementations for health care systems varying in size and infrastructure, created a valuable foundation for providing adequate service. In 2009 the HITEC Act was passed which assured the usage of electronic medical records. This mandate created a need for highly specialized professionals to assist with the development and implementation of software systems in various healthcare settings. Ndifreke Okon served as a valuable reservoir of knowledge in various positions such as resource leadership, leading classroom training, developing software programs customizable for healthcare systems, and supporting hospital staff during software implementation. As a result, his continued commitment to excellence, value, nobility, education, service, volunteering, professionalism, and integrity continue to serve as a beacon of light.
